This is a brand new Pennywhistle designed by Walt Sweet at Sweetheart Flutes in Connecticut, USA. This is the newest model, made of durable polymer and replaces the laminate whistles. It has the new windway design, the 15/32" bore is conical for perfect octave registration and over-blowing is a breeze. The tone quality is sweet, full, and responsive. This whistle has a range of two octaves from D to high D and up with a lot of control.
This new Professional WD model is a breeze to play and is already becoming another of our favorites. The black polymer provides durability, stability and strength, as well as a full, mellow sound with great volume. Its volume is super for playing in larger bands, and yet can be played quietly for a mellow session. The color is jet black. This price includes the sturdy case designed to store the pennywhistle, cork grease, and a swab for cleaning your instrument. It all fits handily into the case with a velcro closure. ($15 USD value)

New! WD Sweet Model Pennywhistles in Plastic!
Our best pennywhistle is now available, machined in black plastic. Developed over the past several months, these new whistles take the old proven design of the Pro to a new level of playability, with the easy care and durability of a polymer. Our intent: to ensure more consistent voicing and to blend the sweetness of the ProMellow version with the presence of the ProPlus (in plastic, there will be one model with a 15/32” bore). As always, the response is balanced, transitions are smooth and stable, and the tone is quite resonant. There’s good “chiff” for that classic pennywhistle sound.
Construction is a little different: The joint slides on a replaceable o-ring inside the head for easy tuning. Beautifully laser engraved on a slimmer head. All plastic parts (fifes, trios, separates) are interchangeable in matching material: black polycarbonate or acetal, both FDA approved and hypoallergenic. Sorry, but these won’t fit the laminated or blackwood pieces.
Just as before, the curved windway reduces clogging, while the tapered bore in the body gives accurate octaves and tuning on AD0. Same ergonomic hole spacing. O-rings on the outside of the tenon serve as tuning spacers.
