Ralph Sweet of Sweetheart Flutes is a Wooden flute maker specializing in Irish flutes, pennywhistles, military fifes, baroque flutes, renaissance fifes, folk flutes, piccolos, wooden whistles and tabor pipes. He has been making wooden instruments since 1974 and is widely recognized as giving excellent value for your investment. We are finding the rich tone quality and ease of play of these newly designed woodwinds well worth our money - they are great for advanced players and beginners alike.
From the Website: "The new “Resonance” Model Pennywhistle finally combines traditional whistling with that classic, wooden-flute tone that’s rich in harmonics. For the best performance, it has a conical bore and undercut finger holes. The windway is curved to reduce clogging; the laminated block is weatherproof. Holes #3 and #6 are offset to shorten the reach and make this whistle more comfortable to hold than most other whistles. A=440, great intonation with good resonance to low D, while being gentle and clear in the 2nd register. Medium-sized holes, laser engraving, internal cork at the joint, and adjustable thumb rest."
This new Low D Professional model was designed over a course of two years by Ralph Sweet's son Walter. It is made of trademark Dymondwood© which is Northern Birch wood laminate and provides stability and strength, as well as a full, mellow sound with great volume. The color looks a lot like Honduras Rosewood. It is also available in Rosewood and Blackwood - contact us for availability and prices in those woods. This price includes the sturdy case designed to store the Low D Pennywhistle, cork grease, and a swab for cleaning your instrument. It all fits handily into the padded case with a velcro closure.
