This listing is for a brand new LOW D DUO (DX022) Low D Whistle and Flute headjoint from Tony Dixon Whistles in Devon, UK.
The Tony Dixon “Duo” shares a common body between separate whistle and flute headjoints. This allow the whistle player an opportunity to practice up on flute technique and vice versa, plus it affords a wide range of tonal possibilities. These are fully tuneable, sturdy, warm sounding whistles and flutes.
They are fun and easy to play, lightweight, and have good volume. They are made of Polymer with an ABS mouthpiece. These instruments are being played by beginners and professionals all over the world.
Players of the Dixon whistles usually describe the tone as pure, mellow, sweet and slightly “chiffy”, their volume is quieter than an aluminum whistle but not too quiet to be used in small group sessions.
Flute players know that the tone is largely up to the player. That being said, the general tone of Tony’s flutes might be considered woodsy and warm with the higher keys sounding brighter.
